Robots for home use and home budget
Couple of weeks back I stumbled upon Rovio, a nice little robot with some great features. I knew about it before, but I saw it as a pricy web cam on wheels then. Well, basically it still is a web cam on wheels today as well :) but now I want it! I neeed it!!!
I don’t need Rovio specifically as much as I need and want to have some kind of a robot at home. I want to control it with my computer and let it cruise around when I’m not “playing” with it.
It would be also great if I could have some kind of interaction with it like voice commands and stuff.
So after searching the web the only real deals I found was the ones from WowWee. They are also the makers of Rovio.
So now I’m in a dilemma…what to do!? Should I buy Rovio?
I can use it remotely from anywhere in the world if I have internet connection there, and also control it with my iPhone as well (that’s sweet). It also operates on its own when and how I set it up and sends me feedback about stuff it does and sees. I don’t need to think about batteries as it charges via a docking station that is drawing power from my home power supply. And yes it looks really coool! If you want to try it out you can do that as well on Rovio’s web site (I did it twice already). The down side is that it doesn’t make any interactions with me as his puppet lord or climb stairs :) .
They have another robot there that has some basic interactions with its Master but it is a toy so I don’t see any real use for it.
The other reason why I already didn’t purchase Rovio is the price tag. I mean it isn’t expensive when you consider what it does, but it still isn’t cheap for some home use if you really don’t need those features (like I currently don’t).
So the price is currently the only reason for not getting one as I can’t justify the expense next to my current commitments and budget for them.
The reason for this post (if you already didn’t figure it out) is fishing for some reasons which I didn’t think of that would justify the whole Rovio story so I can proceed and buy it.
Also if you have some other robots for recommendation that are available somewhere in the world for purchasing please let me know so I can take a look at them as well.
Bye and please don’t be shy about leaving comments to this post!
